WWF has been working closely with the Chinese government and have achieved great success. Community development projects are helping people sustainably coexist with pandas, and some threats to panda survival such as poaching and illegal logging have been significantly reduced. The worldwide population of wild giant pandas increased from 1,600 to 1,864 over the last decade according to a new survey conducted by the government of China. Panda habitats are also increasing with the development of new reserves and green corridors.
